It is a bit startling to realize that it has been over 3 months since we started to actually move into our new farm in Goochland, Virginia! The journey was anything but an easy one – we first had to pack up everything we had collected over a 16 year period, then move some of it (the most crucial) into a temporary home and finally move it all into our new home a few months later!
When I consider the choice of words “move it all into”, I realize that it hardly matches reality at all! We basically moved our boxes and other junk into the new farm. Now, for the past 3 months (and then some!), we have been unpacking and officially moving in. Sadly, we are not yet done. But, in a positive light, we have really nailed down the critical items. We still have a pile of stuff to take to Good Will or sell in a yard sale, and there are still lots of boxes that need to be sorted. I didn’t consider the fact that real life moves on – it doesn’t sit on hold for me to move!
The real question is why am I boring any potential audience with this nonsense? For the time being, it seems the only way to really start this blog off! Our family’s goal of starting a little homestead (or maybe it would be called a farmstead?) has started, but it took me 3 months to begin to document our adventures!
So, the coming posts will be a mix of today and yesterday, as we begin to fill up the site with content and ramp up some of our other social media efforts.
